We do not crown an overall winner. Capacity, footprint, finish, touch-up needs, and price each point at a different cabinet.
How we compared these four
We compared these four against each other and against nothing else. The inputs were live Masters prices verified on July 28, 2026. We also used documented cabinet sizes, hanging capacity, finishes, and the garment-care features LG documents model by model. The “Best for” labels describe fit inside this group of four. They are not market rankings.
There is a hierarchy in this guide, and it runs by footprint. If the wall allows a wide cabinet, the SC5MAR4G is where we would start. It holds the same five hangers as the pricier SC5GMR80H for $200 less. If the wall is tight, the S3WFBN at $999 is the default, and the mirror S3MFBN is the upgrade you take on purpose. We will not stack those two footprints against each other. A cabinet that does not fit the room should leave the shortlist.
Owner-review coverage is uneven across the four. SC5MAR4G has 10 reviews at 4.1 on LG USA. SC5GMR80H has six exact-model syndicated US reviews at 5.0. A separate 29-review LG family stream rates it 4.8, and that stream mixes markets and a related variant. S3MFBN has 164 exact-listing reviews at 4.5. Best five-hanger value: SC5MAR4G
Do you have the wall for a wide cabinet? Start with the SC5MAR4G. It holds five regular hangers, which is the whole reason to buy a wide cabinet. It is also the less expensive of the two models here that do. Masters listed it at $1,499 on July 28, 2026. That is $900 below its displayed $2,399 regular price, a 37.5% difference. The SC5MAR4G listing documents AI Refresh and AI Dry. Those cycles pick the setting for you. You also get Dual TrueSteam, a QuickRefresh cycle that runs about 22 minutes, and a Moving Hanger that swings five hangers through six motions. EZ Fit PantsPress and the AutoFresh system are on board. ThinQ Wi-Fi handles remote start and cycle monitoring. The listing calls for a standard 120V outlet at 12.5 amps. LG covers the inverter compressor for 10 years on parts. The beige door and textured black body read more like furniture than appliance, which matters if the cabinet lands in a bedroom.
Two things send buyers elsewhere. At 23 5/8 inches wide, it wants 6.125 more inches of wall than either S3. One owner said plainly that it ran larger than expected. It also has no mirror front and no hand steamer on board. If either is on your list, look at the next model.
Buy this one on its specs and its price, not on its rating. All 10 reviews came from LG USA. Every one of the eight positive review bodies disclosed an employee or family relationship, free product, or an incentive. A 4.1 average built that way is thin evidence.
Best built-in touch-ups: SC5GMR80H
Two hundred dollars separates this cabinet from the SC5MAR4G. Both list the same cabinet size and the same five-hanger capacity, and both share the core garment care. The SC5GMR80H adds a mirror glass door and a HandySteamer built into the unit with three settings. Its controls and programs are documented differently too. It has a 2.4-inch touch LCD and the widest program list of the four. The SC5MAR4G listing names AI Refresh and AI Dry, while the current SC5GMR80H page lists AI Styling and AI Dry. We did not compare every spec line by line, so read this as the difference that matters to a buyer, not as a full parity check.

The hand steamer is the reason to pay it. It handles quick touch-ups on collars, cuffs, or a dress an hour before an event. No other model in this set has a steamer built in. In the broader LG family review stream, some owners praised the HandySteamer for targeted wrinkles. One reviewer there mentioned using it on curtains and cushion covers. Read that as one favorable stream, not as a result every owner should expect.
The program list is the widest here. It includes AI Styling, rain and snow care, dehumidification, warm blankets, Ready to Go, and a fine-dust sanitary cycle, all run from that touch LCD.
If the steamer is going to sit unused, and the mirror is not doing real work in the room, take the $200 back and buy the SC5MAR4G. This is also the heaviest cabinet of the four at 207.2 pounds. One detailed four-star reviewer in the broader LG family stream grouped footprint, tank size, and price together as the honest downsides. Best slim mirror pick: S3MFBN
The S3MFBN is the narrower mirror option. Its cabinet is 17 1/2 inches wide, 6.125 inches slimmer than either SC5. The mirror front pays rent in a dressing area or a bedroom corner. If you wanted the mirror on the SC5GMR80H and the room is tight, this is the mirror in a narrower body.
Cabinet width is only the first number. The body is 72 3/4 inches tall and 23 inches deep. Our sources do not document clearance figures for the S3 models. So a 17 1/2-inch cabinet does not by itself prove that an 18-inch space will work. Check the owner’s manual clearances, the door swing, the outlet, the floor, and the delivery path before you order.

It carries the deepest exact-listing review pool of the four: 164 reviews at 4.5, with 87.8% at four or five stars. The recurring praise matches the jobs above. That stream does fold in some related Styler models, so read it as direction and not as proof.
The mirror finish is the main reason to pay $150 more than the white S3WFBN. Both listings publish the same 17.5 by 72.75 by 23-inch size. Both list TrueSteam, inverter heat-pump drying, Pants Crease Care, a three-clothes Moving Hanger, and connected controls. We did not see a full matched spec sheet for either one, so we cannot say the two are the same beyond what both listings document.
Best budget pick: S3WFBN
$999 is the number that changes this decision. The S3WFBN held the lowest current price within these four verified models on July 28, 2026. The S3WFBN lists the same 17 1/2 by 72 3/4 by 23-inch dimensions as the mirror S3MFBN and has a white finish. Both listings document TrueSteam, heat-pump Gentle Dry, Pants Crease Care, and Wi-Fi.
Both S3 listings document the same core garment-care functions, which makes this a sensible first steam closet. A white front disappears into a laundry room. If it becomes something you use twice a week, you have not overspent finding out. What you do not get is the mirror, a hand steamer, or more than the three-clothes Moving Hanger plus the included pants hanger.
This model also has the deepest owner record here, and it is split. Owners praise freshening, odor control, gentle drying, and fewer trips to the dry cleaner. Wrinkles are the recurring disappointment. Of the 20 detailed reviews we read, 11 mention wrinkles or ironing, and several owners say dress pants still need an iron. There is a real low-rating tail too. In LG’s 206-review family stream, 18.9% sit at one or two stars. On a 50-review exact-model retailer listing, 12% do. Buy this cabinet for freshening and odor care. If the plan is to retire the iron, it is the wrong purchase. At the entry price, that gap stings more than it would higher up the range.
Measure before you buy
A measuring mistake can derail the purchase. Five numbers help determine whether the cabinet fits.
- Wall width. The SC5 cabinets need 23 5/8 inches. The S3 cabinets need 17 1/2 inches.
- Floor in front of the door. LG documents the SC5 cabinets at 46 7/8 inches deep with the door open 90 degrees. It recommends at least 24 inches of front clearance.
- Space around the cabinet. On the SC5 models, LG documents at least 2 inches on each side, at least 2 inches at the back, and at least 7 3/4 inches above.
- The delivery path. The SC5 carton is 28 1/4 by 80 3/4 by 27 5/8 inches. The S3 carton is 21 by 72 4/5 by 26 inches. Weights run 183 pounds for either S3, 187.4 pounds for the SC5MAR4G, and 207.2 pounds for the SC5GMR80H.
- Height above the cabinet. The SC5 models stand 77 3/8 inches tall. The S3 models stand 72 3/4 inches. That is close to a five-inch difference under a shelf or a sloped ceiling.
Those clearance figures are the ones LG publishes for the SC5 cabinets. We have no documented clearance numbers for the S3 models. Check the owner’s manual for those, and leave room for the door to swing.
Confirm the outlet while you are measuring. Both SC5 listings call for 120V, 60Hz, 12.5A on a three-prong plug. The S3 listings report 120V, 10 amps, 60 Hz, and 1,500 watts. Those three numbers do not line up. At 120V, 10 amps works out to 1,200 watts, and 1,500 watts works out to 12.5 amps. We are reporting the listing as written and have not resolved that conflict. Check the owner’s manual and confirm the circuit requirement before delivery.
No vent and no drain line is needed. All four dry with an inverter heat pump. The SC5 pair is documented as Plug & Go with no added plumbing. The S3 pair uses portable fill and drainage containers, so no hose connection is needed. Doors are reversible on all four, which matters in a narrow laundry room. The SC5 specifications say Outdoor Approved: No. Their Plug & Go copy mentions garage placement, but our evidence does not establish a garage-ready operating-temperature range. Check the manual’s environmental requirements before choosing a garage.

LG documents these four things on all four models: TrueSteam garment care, gentle drying with an inverter heat pump, Pants Crease Care, and a reversible door. Those come from the product listings. They are not owner reports, and they are not performance results.
What owners report
Several of the review datasets we read return to the same benefits.
- Owners say the cabinets freshen garments between washes. This praise appears in all four datasets we read.
- Owners in the SC5MAR4G and S3WFBN datasets report fewer odors in jackets and knitwear.

Where expectations break down
- Wrinkle results vary by fabric and by how set the wrinkle is. A light crease in a button-down may relax. Heavy wrinkles and dress pants may still need an iron. This theme is strongest in the S3WFBN evidence, where 11 of 20 detailed reviews mention wrinkles or ironing. It shows up in smaller samples for the SC5MAR4G and the S3MFBN. The tiny exact-model SC5GMR80H pool does not settle it either way.
- A steam closet does not wash, and it does not remove stains. It can cut how often you need a dry cleaner. It does not take one’s place.
- Water tanks are filled and drained by hand. One detailed four-star reviewer in the broader SC5GMR80H family stream listed tank size alongside footprint and price as the downsides.
- Cycles take time. Refresh runs 20, 48, or 67 minutes on the S3 models. QuickRefresh runs about 22 minutes on the SC5 pair. Gentle Dry on the S3 models runs 120 or 150 minutes, with an adjustable range of 30 to 150.
LG says the Styler was certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America after independent testing in accredited laboratories. That is LG’s product-page claim. We did not verify the certification or the test results. LG’s wording covers the Styler line, and we did not confirm which exact models it covers.
Whether it earns its floor space depends on how you dress. Do you re-wear coats, suits, uniforms, or wool between washes? The more often you do, the more use the cabinet gets, and the easier the price is to justify. If you rarely re-wear garments the cabinet can handle, it will sit idle. If you are buying it to stop ironing, it is the wrong tool either way.
